There are about 13 million patients with rare diseases in Brazil, which faces several challenges every day. Starting on the diagnosis, often reached belatedly due to lack of physician’s knowledge, until the access to high costs treatments, not always available in SUS. INTERFARMA has brought together an overview of rare diseases in the country, including how they impact on the government’s budget by law suits that forces unexpected purchases and also by regulatory issues regarding orphans drugs.
