The study “Cancer in Brazil – The patient’s journey in the healthcare system and its social and financial impacts” shows the differences in care between SUS, health plans and private consultations, as well as the different conditions across the country\’s regions. With the challenges identified , it is expected to support technical discussions and assist public policy. This work also reveals the total costs of the disease: R $ 68.2 billion in 2017. The amount is composed of direct costs (medicines, surgeries, etc.) and indirect costs (premature death, disability retirement, etc.).
